ETHICA PRESS is a new, independent publisher exploring the interstices between gender and sexuality with a particular focus on queer- and sex-positive non-fiction. We also publish in the areas of queer and gay & lesbian studies, sexual politics, feminism, spirituality, gender studies, and social justice.
We are a new imprint and expect to publish 2 to 3 books each year. We facilitate participatory publishing and therefore expect authors to be actively involved in the publication process, including audience development, marketing and publicity. We accept unsolicited manuscripts, but not manuscripts represented by agents. We do not pay advances to authors.
If you wish to submit a book proposal, please follow the following guidelines:
In your email, demonstrate how your work fits the mandate of ETHICA PRESS, and your unique perspective and contribution to this area
Please include a CV, a list of any previous publications, and the first chapter of the book in the body of the email.
In an attachment, please include the manuscript, in either Word or PDF format.
Include a description of the readership for your book, and information on existing audiences you currently reach via social media or other sources. Then explain how you think these readers are best reached and your plans to help promote the book.
Submissions that do not meet the above guidelines, or demonstrate a thoughtful consideration of these components, will be declined.
If you wish to mail in your proposal, please email us for instructions.
We appreciate your patience in receiving replies; our goal is to let you know within two weeks if we are not interested in moving ahead with a full manuscript review. If we do move ahead, we ask that you allow up to eight weeks for a response.
